About Curio

We started inside the NFT boom and stayed for the technology. Curio is now an independent crypto and Web3 publication, plain-English, skeptical, and honest about how we make money.

Our mission

Make crypto legible, without the hype

Curio exists to help ordinary, curious people understand crypto and Web3 well enough to make their own decisions, calmly, and without being sold to.

We began in 2021 as a licensed digital-collectibles marketplace, releasing official NFT drops for franchises like Scott Pilgrim, American Psycho, and Concrete Park. That put us on the inside of the NFT boom, and its bust. We saw up close how much hype outran substance, how easily newcomers got hurt, and how badly the space needed plain-English, independent explanation.

So Curio changed shape. Today we publish. We do not sell tokens. The marketplace is behind us; what carried over is what we learned, how NFT technology actually works, where the real risks hide, and how to tell a genuine tool from a good story. That perspective is the backbone of everything we write about NFTs, Web3, and the wider crypto market.

Coverage

What we cover

Exchanges & wallets

Where to buy crypto and how to hold it safely, independent comparisons of the tools most people actually use.

NFTs & digital collectibles

The corner we know from the inside, what NFTs are, how to buy them, and which marketplaces are worth your time.

DeFi, Web3 & GameFi

The wider on-chain world explained without the jargon, decentralised finance, Web3 basics, and on-chain gaming.

The honest bit

How we make money

Independent does not mean free to run. Curio pays for itself in two transparent ways, and neither one lets an advertiser buy a better ranking.

Affiliate links

When we link to an exchange or wallet, some links earn us a commission if you sign up. It costs you nothing, and, this is the important part, it never changes who we rank first.

Sponsored placements

Brands can pay for clearly-labelled placements and guest posts. Every one carries a sponsored label and rel="sponsored" links, kept visibly separate from our editorial.

We spell all of this out in our affiliate disclosure. Want to work with us? See advertise with Curio, or head back to the Curio homepage.

Standards

Our editorial standards

Every guide is researched against primary sources, framed neutrally, and written to be useful years from now, not just this cycle. We correct mistakes openly, we label anything commercial, and we never publish price predictions. Crypto is a your-money-your-life subject; we treat it that way, which is also why we point readers toward resources like the SEC's investor alerts on crypto assets.

The full set of rules, sourcing, corrections, how our ratings work, and how we disclose any use of AI tools, lives in our editorial policy.

The team

Curio Editorial

Curio is written and edited by a small team of crypto and Web3 writers and editors who have followed this space since the last cycle. We publish under a shared "Curio Editorial" house byline: it signals that a piece reflects the standards of the whole masthead, not one person's hot take, and that it has been fact-checked before going out.

The four desks behind the byline, and the six steps every page goes through before it is published, are set out on our editorial team page.

About Curio, FAQs

Is Curio still an NFT marketplace?

No. Curio began in 2021 as a licensed digital-collectibles marketplace, but today it is an independent editorial publication. We cover crypto and Web3. We do not sell NFTs. Our roots are why NFTs and digital collectibles remain a subject we know well.

How does Curio make money?

Through affiliate commissions and clearly-labelled sponsorships, never by selling our rankings. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.

Who writes for Curio?

A small team of crypto and Web3 writers and editors, publishing under the "Curio Editorial" house byline. Meet the desks behind it on our editorial team page, and see the standard we hold every piece to in our editorial policy.

Is anything on Curio financial advice?

No. Everything we publish is educational and independent. Crypto is volatile and high-risk; nothing here is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and you should always do your own research.

How do I get in touch?
